Hi guys, i'm back :D Today i'm gonna explain the material about Procedure Text.

Definition of Procedure Text

There are three definition about procedure text : 

(1)Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction / operation manuals e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax. 

(2) Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. recipes, rules for games, science experiments, road safety rules. 

(3) Texts that deal with human behavior, e.g how to live happily, how to succeed

Generic Structure of Procedure Text

# Goal : (e.g : How to make spaghetti)
# Material or Ingredient : (e.g : the material to cook omelette are egg, onion, vegetable oil, etc. )
# Step : (e.g : first, wash the tomatoes, onion, …., second cut the onions becomes slice. . . )

Purpose of Procedure Text

– To explain/tell (the reader) how to make/operate/do something through a sequence of actions or steps.
– To explain steps/instruction to make/operate/do something

Language Feature of Procedure Text

– Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction (e.g: first, second, third, the last)
– Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . . )
– Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
– Using action verbs, e.g : make, take, boil, cook
– Using Simple Present Tense

Examples of Procedure Text

HOW TO MAKE A CUP Of COFFEE

MATERIALS AND INGEDIENTS :

PROCEDURE :
1. Prepare two spoons of sugar, a cup, hot water, one spoon of coffee powder, a spoon.
2. Put one spoon of coffee powder into the cup.
3. Pour some hot water into the cup.
4. Add 2 spoons of sugar into a cup of coffee
5. Stir it well and the hot coffee is ready to drink

Practice 1 : Name the following tools. Then, match the description (function) of each.

Practice 2:

1) First, you will read silently to understand the procedure texts below. Make sure that you know the meaning of every word. If you find some words that you do not understand their meaning yet. Then, consult the dictionary. 

2) Second, read each text (text 1 and 2) loudly as if you are giving the instructions and take a note on your book. If possible, record your voice. 

Practice 3: Read those texts (Text1 and 2) one more time then answer these questions.

Text 1    “How to Insert Sim Card Cellphone” Cellphone is a modern communication device which connects one to the others by voice, written message and data. However, this device cannot work until the SIM card is inserted. When inserting the SIM Card to cellphone, make sure that the cellphone has been switched off and follow the directions bellow : 1. First of all, press the locking catch and slide the cover then lift it off the phone. 2. After that, push two catches in the opposite directions and remove the battery. 3. Next, slide the SIM card carefully into the slot and make sure that the golden connect arson are facing to the connector of the phone. 4. Then, put the battery and align it until snaps into its place. 5. Finally, insert the two catches of the back cover corresponding slot in the phone and slide the cover forward button of the phone until locks into place. Don’t forget to switch on the cellphone. Wait until it is ready to use.

Text 2   How to Cook Rice In A Rice Cooker ➢ First, rinse a cup of rice in cold water. Rub the rice softly under the running water. Do not rub the rice too long, because it will lose the nutrients. Wash the rice once again. Then drain the water from the rice. ➢ Next, add a cup of water. If ou cook rice using an electronic rice cooker, pay attention to the water ratio. The rice and the water ratio is usually 1 part rice to 1 part water. ➢ Then, place the cooking pot in the rice cooker properly. Cover the pot. Select the cooking button right after the light on the rice cook cook turns. ➢ Finally, when the rice has been cooked and is resilent , flip through the rice very gently using a rice spatula

To compose a prosedur text , you will need : • Present Tenses (imperatives) e.g Rinse a cup of rice in cold water Do not rub the rice too lon Add a cup of water Place the cooking pot in the rice cooker properly • Action Verbs e.g Rub, cooking, wash, place, flip • Number to show the sequences e.g First, next, then, after, finally • Adverb e.g Softly, usually, properly, gently

 

How to Use Glue Gun 1. First, check and clean the glue gun from any old glue clogging in the nozzle. 2. Second, put the glue stick into the gun nozzle. 3. Third, insert the plug into the electricity socket. 4. Fourth, prepare a sheet of paper and put the glue gun on it. 5. Fifth, wait until the gun get warmer. 6. Sixth, squeeze the trigger gently to check if the glue stick has changed into liquid form. 7. Finaly, you can apply it on any surface that you want to stick by using this glue gun.

Read the following texts below!

Text 1

How to Use A Blender

1. Prepare the ingredients that you want to mix. The ingredients can be vary, but mostly people use blender for these following things: Ice, vegetables, fruits, milk, or any kind of food and drinks.

2. Cut the ingredients into smaller pieces if the ingredients were solid and big.

3. Prepare the blender cup, make sure to clean it before we use it and put the blender blades on the bottom of the cup.

4. Place the blender cup on the blender machine.

5. Insert the plug into the electricity socket.

6. Put all of the ingredients into the blender cup.

7. Add some water to help the blender mix the ingredients evenly.

8. Close the lid and cover the blender cup tightly.

9. Start the blender by pressing the speed button, you can start from the medium speed.

10. Wait until we get the right texture of the mixture, we can adjust the speed and also add some more water if necessary.

How to Pass an Interview

1. Prepare to describe your work history briefly. Spend most of your time on the recent portion of your career. Go through the beginning rather quickly. 2-3 minutes total should be your target.

2. Explain why you’re interested in interviewing with them. After walking them through your resume, you’ll probably be asked why you’re looking to make a job change, and/or why you’re interested in their company in particular. You should already have two specific reasons for wanting to interview with their company.

3. Answering technical questions- don’t freak out. Try to work your way through the question as much as you can. Your thought process is often more important than answering correctly, so tell them what you’re thinking. Ask questions to clarify if needed.

4. Ask your own questions at the end. You should ask a lot of questions after the interviewer has finished their own questions.

5. Always act like you want the job

6. You have one goal in any interview: Convince them that you’re the best candidate for the job and get invited to the next round. So you should be selling yourself in the interview, not deciding if the job is desirable.

7. Don’t ask for feedback on the spot. They just finished interviewing you. Give them time to think. You’re going to go home and decide whether you’re interested, they need time to think too. Don’t put them on the spot like this.

8. Be human. You don’t need to seem perfect in the interview to get hired.

9. Learn the interviewer’s name and use it. You will build a stronger bond/rapport with the interviewer if you do this, and they’ll be more likely to remember you favorably and hire you.

10. Be upfront and use clear language. Don’t use vague language and don’t lie. They’ll usually know. Hiring managers interview a lot of people and have a great sense for this

11. Never badmouth. Don’t badmouth former bosses, former employers, coworkers or anyone else. So never, ever badmouth anyone from your past in your interview.

12. Make everything about them. Start thinking about what the company wants. Make yourself seem like a solution to their problems.

Activity 3 : How to do

How To Make Slime

What You Need:
1. Borax (Sodium tetraborate)
2. Food coloring (optional)
3. School glue
4. Two bowls
5. Water

What You Do:

• First, in one bowl mix 1 oz. glue (about ¼ of the glue bottle) and ¼ cup water. Add food coloring to the glue and water mixture if you want colored slime. Lift some of the solution out of the container with the stir stick and note what happens.
• Second, add ¼ cup of Sodium Tetraborate (Borax) Solution to the glue and water mixture and stir slowly.
• Next, the slime will begin to form immediately. To test the elasticity of the slime, lift some of the solution with the stir stick and observe how the consistency has changed from Step 1.
• Stir as much as you can, then dig in and knead it with your hands until it gets less sticky. This is a messy experience but is necessary because it allows the two compounds to bond completely.
• Finally, the slime is ready to be played.

Activity 3 : How to use

How to Use a Printer

You need:

Directions:

Step 1
Using a printer even basic printer is extremely easy to do. There are many different models of printers out there. You have your very basic to your all-in-one printer. The printer with everything on it works pretty much just like the regular printer you just have a lot more buttons to push

Step 2
Make sure that your printer is hooked up properly before using it. If this is a brand new printer then it will go through a check and print out a test page for you. A lot of different times you can just turn it on, you will hear the ink moving around. Something might come up on the computer telling you that the printer is on and working properly.

Step 3
Open the page you want to print. If you are on the Internet and want to print something from there. All you have to do is go up to file, then down to page set up. This will give you more printing options to choose from. When you are done setting up the page you can verify you have the right printer hooked up by clicking on “Printer” at the bottom. Once everything looks good click on “OK” and now your page should print out.

Step 4
Open up a “.doc” file if that is where your page is that you need to print. When you are ready to print go up to “File” and “Print Setup”. Again you can choose how you want your page to look, and check and make sure the right printer is installed. If your page is set up the way you like it you can just click on the printer icon on the tool bar or go to “File” then “Print.”

Step 5
Using a printer a lot over time will start to wear down your ink supply. Some models of printers let you know when your ink supply is getting low. If you have an older printer you will just have to go by what the printed page looks like. If it is very worn and faded then it is time to install a new ink cartridge.

Activity 3 : How to make

                                    How to Make Scrambled Eggs

Let’s learn how to make yummy scrambled eggs at your home with this easy recipe!

Ingredients:

• 2 eggs

• Milk (if desired)

• 1 teaspoon of butter

• A pinch of salt and pepper

Steps:

1. First, crack the eggs into a small bowl and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk until all well blended.

2. In a frying pan, add butter and let it melt.

3. Pour the eggs and milk, and for around 20 seconds, do not stir it.

4. After that, fold the eggs to the center and stir with spatula.

5. Repeat the previous step until all the eggs are mostly cooked

6. Remove eggs from heat, and keep continue to fold and stir the eggs for around a minute.

7. Lift the eggs, put on the serving plate and your scrambled eggs are ready.
